J. Thomas Walker

When You asked for a gift
i rolled the universe into a ball
    held in my hand
tied a ribbon and bow about it

It was trinket
    set on the shelf
forgotten in the dust of ages

So i gave to You
    my body
    my soul
    my undying love

    prayed that it was worthy

By a miracle you found it so

i love you with my whole being

God gave me life, soul and salvation
most of all he gave You to me

Without Him i would have nothing
without You it would mean nothing

And when death comes to the door

i shall die a thousand deaths
if only he will spare You

If God should say You could not go to heaven
I shall go to hell in your place
so you can take mine in heaven

And all the while I shall praise God
    and Love You forever

This I know shall not be asked of me
for God is just, loving and merciful

When You, my love, cannot help me
    I seek to Him
        for nothing is beyond Him

And when I fear of losing You
I pray to Him that I should not

And when I am weak and cannot help you
I pray that he would help me help you

And when I am lost and you cannot find the answer
    I ask Him

You love me for who I am,
I am who I am only because of him
