J. Thomas Walker

She sits
all alone
Time sweeps around her
the clouds roll and clash
The lighting zaps the ground,
    a great bug light
The bugs, lost souls
She does not see, we three
who stand behind her
    peering over the cliff
    she dangles her feet from
she does not look up
Nor does she see the child
    sitting beside her
    his arm around her
She does know we love her so
I am weak but the others are strong
We and the heavens weep as she
    I hold an umbrella
    she does notice the rain
