Wow - What A First Year
Everyone keeps saying "when are you going to post a success story on the CINDER
website"? I've been struggling to decide which cat story to tell you but, I
think the story to tell is what we've been able to accomplish in just over a
year. Since we started this in April of 2005 we've provided vet assistance to
72 cats and kittens! We've assisted felines in Eastpointe, the Grosse Pointes,
Rochester Hills, Detroit and Allen park just to name a few. As our mission
states, we've assisted feral cats, stray cats and cats owned by limited resource
individuals. We have several cats on a waiting list who we will provide
services for before the end of the year and are already planning for some cats
to be assisted next year.
Something you should know about us - we work full time jobs and maintain our own
homes in addition to doing this important work. Not one penny we receive is
ever used for anything other than this work - no one receives any salary from
the organization. We even pay for our own gasoline to transport cats to and
from their vet appointments. No complaints - I just want you to know that if
you choose to support us, your money is only used for vet work, nothing else.
My biggest disappointment is not being able to assist everyone who has contacted
us this year - we are trying to be fiscally responsible and stick to our budget,
if at all possible. We make a commitment, though, to return every email and
phone call and I'm proud to say we've done that even though it is so hard to
tell someone that we can't help them at this time.
Please don't think I'm complaining - I look at those 72 cats and think of all of
the animals who won't be brought unwanted into this world only to suffer. I
just know how much more work there is to do and hope that you'll consider
helping us to do it.
To everyone who has donated, thank you so much. To everyone who has contacted
us, thank you for caring about your cats be they feral or owned. To Martha and
Alice thank you for everything you do every day. To the extraordinary
veterinarians we work with, Dr. Alice Marczewski and Dr. Tim Schacht of
Jefferson Veterinary Center, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. None of
this would be possible without you.
If you love cats, if you love animals, if you want to support a charitable
organization that you can be certain will never use your dollars for anything
other than its' stated purpose, please consider donating to The CINDER Fund.
Please help us to have an even bigger success story for next year.
Thank you,
Marjorie
