George
Duffy
Vice President, Operations
George Duffy began his telecommunications career with
UA-Columbia New Jersey in 1978. George worked in UA's
operations and engineering group for eight years. He left
UA-Columbia to work in Southern California for Masada
Cable as chief technician, building and operating new
systems. In 1987, George accepted a position with C-TEC
in Hillsborough, New Jersey, as regional technical manager.
He saw the New Jersey operation grow from less than 30,000
customers to over 70,000 customers and in 1990 he was
promoted to operations manager.
In 1995 George moved with C-TEC/RCN to the Allentown,
Pennsylvania, area to become general manager of Twin County
Cable, the nation's largest competitive cable television
market.
In August of 1996, George was asked to go to Boston and
oversee the New England operations for RCN as vice president
and general manager. With franchising demanding a full-time
effort George moved to the RCN regulatory department in
1997 as vice president of franchising and development.
With over 500,000 homes under agreement in the Boston
market, George set his sights on the Philadelphia metropolitan
area and northern New Jersey and, before leaving RCN,
he had agreements in place for more than 100,000 homes
in these major markets.
George is very excited about bringing competition to the
West and Midwest and WideOpenWest will make good use of
his unique technical, operational, and regulatory experience.
George attended William Paterson College, where he majored
in history.
